Zhang Ancestral Hall, Dongmen

This dilapidated ruin full of squatters is also one of the finest examples of an untouched "ruin" in Shenzhen. And it's easy to get to (if you know where it is), just a few minutes on ffot from central Dongmen.

Directions:

• From Dongmen: Walk east, to Dongmen Lu. If you cross at Shennan, turn left on Dongmen Lu, then right on the first street, Hubei Lu. If you use the footbridge, it will land you at the west end of Hubei Lu. Now walk east. A largish street veers off to the left. Now watch the alleys on the left. At the north end of a short alley you will see the Hall.
  Don't count on noticing Hubei Village as a landmark; there are stores in front of it that make it difficult (but not impossible) to see. If you reach the Golden Business Center, you've gone too far.
• From anywhere else: Aim for the Golden Business Center (you can't miss it). If you are facing it on Shennan Lu, walk around it to the left. Turn left on the street behind it (Hubei Lu), and start watching the alleys on the right.
