For me? A Valentine's Day Love Story

Mr. Shenzhen was arriving home this evening when he espied a gentleman standing outside the door of his building. He was wearing too-cool shades. He was smoking a cigarette. And he was holding a large bouquet of roses.

Pointing at the flowers and then himself, "For me?!" cried Mr. Shenzhen.

In halting but unaccented English, the caller ruefully replied, "No...for...my...girlfriend."

He looked truly sorry to have let Mr. Shenzhen down.

Mr. Shenzhen pulled a frown, pulled out his keys, pulled open the door, and pulled himself dejectedly up the stairs to his sad little room.
