Lila and I have returned from the Philippines, and I am once again resident in Shenzhen (after a year in Yangzhou, Jiangsu.) I'm back to teaching here in SZ, and expect to be here for a while.
So we're ready to make this homepage start BUZZIN'. Watch for new activity very, very soon.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous, Shenzhen, China
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Agree with james
Hi yangliu,
i agree with james. most foreigners when they are relaxing at a bar or pub after work DO NOT want a chinese person to approach them to "practice" english, i often get this when i am havin glunch and it is most disturbing.
i think there is an english corner at the star bucks in CITIC plaza, no idea of when it is though.

Cool
Thanks for your efforts on this site. We need a website more 'honest' and less commercially driven. So, please, don't 'sell out' if it becomes more successful. :)

English Practice
Hi.
To be honest, many foreigners who are out for a relaxing time feel a little unhappy if someone wants to "use" them for English practice. Friendship should be based on more than "I want something from you."
That also means that, if you go to Shekou and start chatting with foreigners (men), they may want something from YOU. This could be dangerous.
I suggest you find an English corner or English salon. This is a place where many Chinese--and some foreigners--go to practice English. There will be many people who go for the same reason.
One well-known English corner is held on Sunday afternoons in Lizhi Park, near the pond. Also, check with Book City to see if they still have English salons.
Good luck!
