The BUZZ:

Dang. Dang dang dang. This is the kind of chocolate that drives men to madness, that makes women do the unspeakable. If you have a weakness for fine chocolate, STAY AWAY.

If, on the other hand, you are known to be mentally well balanced, a person with refined if not downright restrained sensibilities, perhaps one who has been cleared by a doctor for such activities, then you might be able to take this chocolate standing up.

Varieties? How about cranberries dipped in chocolate. Plums dipped in chocolate. Granny Smith apples dipped in chocolate. Nuts dipped in chocolate. Marshmallows. Red wine.

Fudge.

Arg.

Using chocolate from the Guittard Chocolate Company (family owned in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1868), and the choicest local ingredients, these confections are not manufactured. They are hand-made right in the shop. Our long-time friend and chocolatier Gibble offers samples to the visitor like the most heinous of pushers, knowing full well what this will lead to...

The PLACE:

• Where: Littlejim's is located in a shopping center at the bend of Binhe Lu, near Huaqiang Lu. The most noticeable store in the center is an A-Best (Xin Yi Jia) Department Store.
• When you arrive, walk through the large "A-Best" archway on the front of the building. Walk straight ahead in the store, with the clothing and lingerie on your left. Just past the escalators is the promised land of Littlejim's.
• By Metro: One supposes a hardy soul could walk from Huaqiang Lu Metro Station. In fact, if you're a Puritan, that should be your vow: "I will not eat Littlejim's unless I walk from the Metro and back." Really. From Exit D, proceed east to Huaqiang Lu. Turn right. Walk past Fuhua Lu until you reach the impassable Binhe Lu. If you walk right for a while on Binhe, you'll pass the A-Best across the street. When you see the pedestrian bridge, cross over and walk back. With the bridge detour, 4300 ft (1.3 km); if you can find a more direct way across the road, maybe 3150 ft (0.96 km). Figure about 15-20 minutes. Regulars will find faster ways by cutting through residential neighborhoods to reach the bridge.
• By bus: The nearest bus stop is Chi Wei Tian Qiao (赤尾天桥). Unfortunately only a few buses stop here, including 52, 73, and 382.
  A bigger stop is Wu Wei Da Sha (无委大厦) northeast from Chi Wei Tian Qiao, and east of Huaqiang Lu. 23, 38, 52, 73, 229, 312, 366, 369, 372, and 382 stop here.
  Finally, Gang Bian Cun (岗边村) is southeast of Chi Wei Tian Qiao on Binhe; note that J1 runs from Shekou to Yantian, and will definitely get you here. Buses: 23, 28, 52, 73, 229, 312, 313, 337, 364, 366, 369, 372, 382, and J1.
